Our Ethics
Traditionally, up until the mid 20th Century, a hamper of food or clothing would often be given as a charitable donation to those in need. The wicker basket which contained the donated items would then serve as a useful storage item by the recipient.
Here at Sarah's Gifts and Hampers Ltd we still adopt our ethics around this traditional approach of supporting the local community, as well as sourcing our baskets and gift boxes so that they can be re-used again, either as storage or to be given as another gift to friends, family and colleagues.
Local Community
We look to support, wherever possible local community initiatives, charities and schools. We feel it is extremely important to give something back to society, whilst we also gain so much insight and knowledge into working and supporting different initiatives.
Baskets, Boxes and Packaging
We are really proud of the suppliers we have sourced to ensure that we have a responsibility to the environment around us. You will find that our wicker products are made from steamed willow and the willow comes from a sustainable plant that is grown and cropped bi-annually. Our shred is 100% recyclable, as are the gift boxes and on most of our product descriptions you will see that we have documented where this is the case, or ideas to re-use as storage. We also re-use as much packaging as is possible from supplies that we receive and we would like to thank our friends, family and local businesses for sending us your packaging materials to help reduce our carbon footprint.
Our Suppliers
We have looked to source as many of our British suppliers as possible, locally and we are really proud of the fact that on the whole we have been able to do this. Please see the details on our Suppliers page, which in turn ensures we are supporting our local enonomy, as well as helping to reduce our carbon footprint on society.
